The Borrower is a low-budget science fiction horror film from 1991 directed by John McNaughton. An alien (Robert Dryer) is kicked off his planet for committing crimes. For his punishment, he is sentenced to life on the planet Earth. In order to survive, the alien frequently needs a new head as each head he borrows from a human explodes after a period of time. The bodies begin to pile up and homicide detectives, Diana Pierce (Rae Dawn Chong) and Charlie Krieger (Don Gordon), are assigned the case to catch the mysterious culprit and figure out who is responsible for the carnage. Whenever a human head isn't available for the alien, he snatches whatever head is available, at times it's human, and others it's canine. A bum (Antonio Fargas) befriends the strange creature until the alien needs to borrow his head. Diana and Charlie race against the clock as the body count rises.
