The Boss' Wife is a comedic tale centering around a sexy but neglected corporate trophy wife Louise (Arielle Dombasle), her fast-talking egocentric husband Mr. Roalvang (Christopher Plummer), and the lowly corporate yes-man Louise is attempting to seduce, Joel (Daniel Stern). Corporate dinners and stuffy boardroom meetings become the backdrop to an outrageous series of antics by Louise as she tries desperately to attract male attention, while her miserly, boring husband ignores her in favor of the bottom line. As Joel realizes Louise is dead-set on having her way with him, he grows increasingly unable to concentrate on business matters, intent on Louise receiving a sensual massage outside her husband's office window instead. Louise in turn continues to risk discovery in a series of increasingly obvious ploys. Playing for laughs and titillation instead of serious drama or character complexity, this 1987 screwball comedy from Key Studios highlights how much effort a seduction can take.
