The Bothersome Man is a 2007 Norwegian film about Andreas (Trond Fausa Aurvaag), a man who is dropped off in the middle of nowhere, with no memory of his past, and just an isolated gas station with a welcome sign. Two men then grab him and take him to an apartment where they inform him that he starts a new accounting job the next day. He finds the work undemanding but well-paid, he is presented with a lovely new girlfriend (Petronella Barker) and all his co-workers want to be his friend. No one seems emotionally connected to each other, though. Scenes of horrific violence are treated cavalierly, and quickly disposed of by officials. The only thing that excites people is talk about couches, furnishings and home fixtures. When Andreas discovers haunting, evocative music coming from a crack in his basement, he wonders if there is more to life than this frigid existence. This award-winning dark comedy was directed by Jens Lien from a script by Per H.V. Schreiner.moreless
