Rating:
The Boy and the Pirates is an engaging and creative fantasy from director Bert I. Gordon of monster film fame. Young Jimmy Warren (Charles Herbert) who lives on the coast of Massachusetts, is annoyed with the unfairness of his modern life after his father berates him about his poor grades at school. While playing on the shore, he finds a strange bottle. While holding it, he wishes he were back in the days when pirates were on the high seas. Abu the Genie (Joseph Turkel), appears and tells Jimmy that his wish is granted. Jimmy and the genie are now together, aboard the sailing vessel of the infamous pirate, Blackbeard (Murvyn Vye). At first, Jimmy doesn't believe the genie, but after comical meetings with Snipe (Paul Guilfoyle) and Scoggins (Archie Duncan) he learns life aboard The Queen's Revenge is far too real and not all high adventure. He gains help from a girl named Katrina (Susan Gordon) to find his way back to his modern life. The film also features Timothy Carey, Than Wyenn, Albert Cavens, and Mickey Finn.moreless
