Movie Summary

Rian Johnson
The Brothers Bloom is a 2008 crime caper film from writer-director Rian Johnson (Brick) that stars Mark Ruffalo, Adrien Brody, Rachel Weisz, and Rinko Kikuchi in a story about two brothers who have worked as con men since they were kids who must navigate a delicate path full of deceit and misdirection as they try to find happiness. Stephen (Ruffalo) and Bloom (Brody) were once two orphans moving from foster home to foster home, never able to stay in one place for long without getting kicked out. Stephen, the older brother, has a keen mind, perfect for designing elaborate cons for huge payouts. Bloom, the younger brother, has a big heart and a charming personality, perfect for winning the trust of the marks they intend to take advantage of. As grown men, Bloom grows tired of their life and tries to quit. Stephen brings Bloom back for one final job, but when Bloom falls in love with the mark everything starts to get far too complicated. The Brothers Bloom is a fun crime film full of touching drama as well as fun fantasy elements.moreless
