The Brothers Solomon is a 2007 comedy in which a pair of brothers attempt to quickly find a mate to satisfy their father's dying wish. Ed Solomon (Lee Majors) is about to go to his eternal reward, but he asks one favor of his sons. He wants to see his grandchild before he dies. The problem is that the two boys, John (Will Arnett) and Dean (Will Forte), were raised in the Arctic wilderness without any women around. The two are pretty much clueless when it comes to meeting and talking to women, much less quickly courting them with the intention of a quick pregnancy. The two have no option but to turn to Craigslist where they meet the woman of their dreams, Janine (Kristen Wiig). She agrees to artificial insemination, and the rest of the movie follows the chaos of two doofuses trying to care for a pregnant and hormonal woman on the one hand and a dying father on the other.moreless

Metacritic Score

  • 58

    Entertainment Weekly Scott Brown

The sheer, animal idiocy beaming from their faces in the opening credits of The Brothers Solomon creates the film's only moment of uncalculated comic joy.

  • 30

    The New York Times

A deranged, sometimes desperate parody of an inspirational losers-make-good comedy. Three gags miss for every one that hits.

  • 20

    Variety

If "Hot Rod" and "The Ex" couldn't attract an audience, this full-blown comedy miscarriage stands no chance.
