The Brylcreem Boys brings a chapter of Irish history into the present with its mix of adventure, romance and humor. A pair of World World II pilots shoot each other down over the Emerald Isle and become prisoners of war. Due to its neutrality, Ireland interned all soldiers, airmen and sailors without regard to their nationality if they were captured on Irish soil. The pilots, Miles Keogh of Canada (Bill Campbell) and Count Rudolph Von Stregenbeck of Germany (Angus McFadyen) are amazed when they come face to face at the entrance of the internment camp that they been assigned to. They later discover that Commandant O'Brien (Gabriel Byrne) will allow the prisoners out on a day pass if they agree to not escape. Both pilots enjoy drinks at the local pub and a day at the races, but when Mattie (Jean Butler), a beautiful Irish girl catches their eye, it sparks their hatred and mutual distrust of each other as they realize she wants nothing to do with them or their war. Based on real-life events, the film is written and directed by Terence Ryan.moreless
