The Burrowers is a western, horror film that was released in 2008 about a family of pioneers who are violently abducted and the group who assembles to rescue them. Set in 1879, the group of rescuers sets out in the mid-west, only to find that what they thought were human abductors may not be so human after all. The group originally believes that the abductors are a group of hostile Native Americans, but soon come to find out of a story about a species of "Burrowers", who once fed off of Buffalo, but have recently moved on to feasting on humans as well. The group also learns that a tribe of Native Americans called the Ute, had once found a way to kill off "Burrowers", but as the Ute tribe are being killed off at an alarming rate, finding the tribe and figuring out how to finish their work is becoming the biggest obstacle.
