The Business of Strangers is a 2001 drama about two women who get caught in a dangerous corporate prank one fateful night in a hotel. Stockard Channing plays Julie Styron, a woman who has devoted her life to her career as a business woman. She's never had time to build a family or a personal life, but her hard work has earned her a good position with the company. Julia Stiles plays Paula Murphy, Julie's new assistant. Early in the film, Julie fires Paula after a costly mistake. The go separate ways, but wind up stuck at the same hotel one night when their flights are canceled. The two women share a drink in the bar and Julie apologizes to Paula for flying off the handle. Now, having formed a shaky friendship under the influence of a few drinks, they play a disturbing prank on a business associate that might form an inseparable bond between them—or it might ruin their careers. This gripping film is written and directed by Patrick Stettner, and co-stars Fred Weller as corporate headhunter Nick Harris. The Business of Strangers is a stark tale about the dark side of professional relationships and two women whose lives are forever changed one eventful night.moreless
