The Butchers, AKA Maxie, is a 1973 horror film directed by Paulmichel Mielche. The film follows a young deaf mute girl named Maxie (played by KT Baumann). She has an overbearing father who won't even let her go to school as he is afraid she will be made fun of there. In the same town is a butcher who has owned his shop for many years. He and his assistant, an orphaned, stuttering young man, periodically receive dead bodies at the shop. They use the meat from the bodies in the butcher's shop. One day Maxie finds out about this dead body trafficking. However the butcher doesn't care that she knows, as she is deaf and mute. However when a doctor claims he could teach Maxie to speak the Butcher begins to worry. Now it is up to Maxie to get the truth out while navigating through a veritable web of betrayal, deception and murder.
