The Cheat is a drama that was directed by George Abbott. This classic features the story of a young wife (Tallulah Bankhead) who has never been satisfied with the life she has been leading. Her husband (Harvey Stephens) loves her but she does not appreciate it. He is boring and seems incapable of the fun and excitement she so cherishes. While gambling away his money and spending all her time in casinos, she ends up falling for another man (Irving Pitchell) as well. This begins a long standing affair that will end up ruining the both of them. Once people begin to find out about her indiscretions, she is turned into a laughing stock that everyone gossips about. The scandal and shame is too much for her to deal with, and her husband is livid that his wife could be unfaithful to him. Will she ever be able to make him understand why she did it? Will their marriage survive, or will his ego be too much for him to allow forgiveness for her?moreless
