The Comedians of Comedy: The Movie is a 2004 documentary film that follows the Comedians of Comedy on their tour of the United States and was directed by Michael Blieden. The film was backed financially by Netflix and premiered at the South by Southwest film festival in 2005. The Comedians of Comedy features alternative comedians Patton Oswalt Brian Posehn, Maria Bamford, and Zach Galifianakis. In addition to performing all across the country, the documentary highlights the comedians' philosophy that rejects traditional comedy clubs. The four Comedians of Comedy instead play to sold out standing room indie rock venues with no drink minimums in order to welcome more people who take to their style of humor. In addition to stand up sets and interviews, there are also absurdist sometimes improvised comedy skits interjected throughout the film which gives off exactly the kind of humor they are looking to produce.
