The story revolves a group of young, unemployed Dubliners, led by Jimmy Rabbitte, who start an American Soul band and dream of musical stardom. Rabbitte dreams of managing the greatest band in the world, and he just might get his wish. The Commitments have what it takes, but they can't stand each other. Will they be able to hold it together long enough to hit the big time?
