His life is disrupted when a younger colleague, Father Andrews (Von Flores), is suspected of murdering Eric Halloran (James Dallas Smith). Instead of demanding a lawyer, Father Andrews requests to speak with Father Clemens. Father Clemens thinks the request is strange, but his curiosity leads him to meet with the younger priest. Father Andrews divulges to Clemens that he knows who killed Eric but he cannot tell the police who due to confidentiality issues. In order to determine whether Father Andrews' explanation has any merit, Clemens enlists the help of Madeline Finney (Molly Parker), a TV news reporter who Clemens was romantically involved with before becoming a priest.
