The Cookout is a comedy film from 2004 starring Queen Latifah, Quran Pender, Ja Rule, Tim Meadows, Eve, and Danny Glover. The film was directed by Lance Rivera, and co-written by Queen Latifah. Todd Anderson (Quran Pender) is a young man from Jersey who just so happens to be the NBA's number one draft pick of the year, so it is no surprise the New Jersey Nets offer him a $30 million contract to play for their team. Flabbergasted with his new fame and income, Anderson buys a large mansion in a rich neighborhood. Before the season starts, he decides to invite his eccentric family over for a cookout, but forgets that he has an endorsement interview scheduled at his house on the same day. Most of the movie focuses on the day of the cookout, and all the awkward situations Anderson finds himself in. At the end of a chaotic day, Anderson realizes he loves his family just the way they are, regardless of how they are perceived by his neighbors or the public.moreless
