PG-13
The Couple is a 2004 drama film based on actual events. It is 1944, and in Hungary, the Nazi presence is an ominous shadow over the lives of the remaining Jewish citizens. Joseph Krauzenberg (Martin Landau) is a Hungarian businessman of Jewish heritage. He has always enjoyed great financial success, overseeing a range of lucrative factories and textile mills. With the Nazi regime closing in on his business, Krauzenberg tries to make a deal. He will hand over all his wealth if the Nazis will free his family members from the concentration camps where they await almost certain death. In his desperate ploy, Krauzenberg overlooks a major detail. He still employs a pair of servants, Ingrid (Caroline Carver) and Hans (Kenny Doughty), a young woman and young man who are deeply in love. The two claim that they are Aryans who just happen to be employed by a wealthy Jewish tycoon. However, the Nazis suspect otherwise. Krauzenberg, Hans and Ingrid must figure out a way to escape the most dangerous situation of their lives.moreless
