2006
Rating:
PG-13
The Covenant is a horror film from director Renny Harlin that tells the tale of the sons of Ipswich, four boys with supernatural powers. The boys, Caleb Danvers (Steven Strait), Tyler Simms (Chace Crawford), Reid Garwin (Toby Hemingway) and Pogue Parry (Taylor Kitsch), are descendants of four of the five magically gifted families that founded Ipswich, Massachusetts. The fifth family, the Putnams, were exiled generations ago as their thirst for more power made them dangerous to the other families. The four boys are entering a new school year at the Spencer Academy, a year that promises to be interesting. Caleb and the other boys are soon turning eighteen, at which point they will have full access to their powers. The powers are addictive and come with a price: each time one of them makes use of a power, he ages at a more rapid pace. So far, the boys have managed to control their addictions, but all that may change when a descendant of the Putnam family comes to town.moreless

    Muddled and most unmagical offering.

That's the one with a car that explodes and gets put back together by magic, right? Yeah, that's pretty much the coolest part.
