The Crimson Pirate is a 1952 adventure film directed by Robert Siodmak. In the 18th century, Captain Vallo (Burt Lancaster) is the leader of a crew of wily pirates in the Caribbean. By pretending that his crew has scurvy, Captain Vallo manages to take over one of the King's ships. Baron Gruda (Leslie E. Bradley), a royal officer, tells him that the ship was heading towards the island of Cobra to stop a political rebellion led by El Libre (Frederick Leister). He offers Captain Vallo and his men a hefty sum of money if they will capture El Libre for him. The crafty pirate then forges a plan to get money from both sides in the conflict by selling stolen weapons to the rebels and then handing El Libre over to Baron Gruda to get the promised reward. When Captain Vallo meets El Libre's beautiful daughter, Consuelo (Eva Bartok), he starts to reconsider his entire scheme. With plenty of humor, acrobatic tricks, and daring swordplay, this swashbuckling pirate adventure is great fun for the entire family to watch together.moreless
