1969
Rating:

The Damned follows the story of the slow corruption of a German family after the first World War. Baron Joachim Von Essenbeck (Albrecht Schoenhals) is an aristocrat and opposes the political takeover of Hitler and the Nazi party. One night, in a dinner party at their home, the Baron is shot and killed. Suddenly the state becomes interested in taking possession of the family's steel company, but an intricate web of family relations must play itself out to decide who will be the heir. The company's vice president, Herbert Thallman (Umberto Orsini), is blamed and flees the country. Thus the company's fate is up in the air. One relative, Konstantin Von Essenbeck takes control, but two others, Gunther (Renaud Verley) and Martin (Helmut Berger) vie for power. Martin is an unscrupulous, cross-dressing, child-abusing deviant who exposes the family's dark secrets to the public. The family conflicts intensify as they each try to claim control of the fortune, and some of them will kill to get it.moreless
