The Darjeeling Limited is a comedic drama that follows the adventures of three brothers as they travel across India in search of their mother. The film opens with Peter Whitman (Adrien Brody) racing to catch a train known as the Darjeeling Limited. Once he gets aboard, he meets his two brothers, Jack (Jason Schwartzman) and Francis (Owen Wilson). We soon learn that the brothers have not seen each other since their father's funeral a year ago. As they travel across India, the three of them repeatedly find themselves in odd situations, including allowing a deadly cobra to escape on the train and engaging in a passionate love affair with one of the train's attendants. Eventually, though the brothers are kicked off the train for their repeated indiscretions. They encounter a group of drowning boys, and manage to save all but one of them. The death of the other proves to be a turning point for all of them. As they continue on their journey to find their mother, the brothers finally begin to realize that their respective lives are falling apart and that they need each other in order to make things right.moreless

Inventively staged picture should satisfy the upscale, youth and cult auds Anderson has developed, though it's unlikely to draw significantly better than his earlier work.
