Movie Summary

Director:
Christopher Nolan
Released:
2008
Rating:
PG-13

It's been a bit safer on Gotham's streets, criminals are running scared ever since the Batman dawned on his cape. When a rise in crime is orchestrated by a new criminal named the Joker, Batman must fight for his life and for everything he's tried to save in Gotham's peacekeeping. The Joker won't stop until he's turned the citizens against each other, made a mockery of the new noble district attorney Harvey Dent and revealed the true identity of the Batman for the world to see. It's a fight for Gotham City's soul and a classic tale of good versus evil and order versus chaos.

Pitched at the divide between art and industry, poetry and entertainment, it goes darker and deeper than any Hollywood movie of its comic-book kind.

  • One of the Greatest Films of the 21st Century

The Dark Knight was a pretty great film in my opinion. It was brilliantly paced and the story of it always kept me at the edge of my seat. That's how intriguing it was. It has been a great improvement from it's prequel, Batman Begins (2005). Great acting and the story is well-made. I encourage many others to try the film out and maybe you'll understand the enjoyment I've witnessed while viewing this masterpiece!moreless

    • Joker: (after Rachel hits him) A little fight in ya. I like that.
Batman: Then you're going to love me.

    • Joker: Want to know how I got these scars? My father was a drinker, and a fiend. And one night, he goes off crazier than usual. Mommy gets the kitchen knife to defend herself. He doesn't like that. Not one bit. So, me watching, he takes the knife to her, laughing while he does it. Turns to me and says, "Why so serious?" He comes at me with the knife. "Why so serious?" He sticks the blade in my mouth. "Let's put a smile on that face." And....Why so serious?
