The Deadly Trackers is a 1973 dramatic western directed by Barry Shear. In the film, Sheriff Sean Kilpatrick (Richard Harris) is a lawman who believes in following the law strictly by the guidelines and avoiding violence when necessary. His policing style is put to the test when his town is invaded by Frank Brand (Rod Taylor) and his ruthless gang of thugs. Brand orchestrates a series of crimes in the small town that threaten the safety of everyone who inhabits the area. Sheriff Kilpatrick responds to the crime spree by attempting to reason with the criminals. Others around the sheriff think he should respond more aggressively, or even violently. The sheriff's plan fails and as a result he suffers a deep personal loss. His personal tragedy changes Sheriff Kilpatrick. He regrets his decision to reason with the criminals and is determined to track them down and do what he couldn't do before. His quest for revenge leads him to Mexico where he attempts to find Brand and his men.
