The Deal is a 2008 feature film directed by Steven Schachter. The movie is an adaptation of the novel of the same name written by Peter Lefcourt. The film version was written by Steven Schachter and William Macy. The movie involves a depressed Hollywood film producer who is given a documentary film about statesman Benjamin Disraeli by his nephew Lionel (Jason Ritter). The producer is Charlie Berns (William Macy), who decides to throw out the documentary style of the film in favor of an action packed style that has no historical basis and generally makes no sense. Charlie Berns stars Bobby Mason (LL Cool J) as the protagonist. Also casted in the movie is an actress named Diedre Hearn (Meg Ryan). The movie is filmed in South Africa until Bobby Mason is kidnapped. The movie's location is then moved to Prague in the Czech Republic and filming continues despite increasing complications.
