The Deep is a 1977 action-adventure movie that was adapted from the best-selling novel by "Jaws" author Peter Benchley. Nick Nolte (David Sanders) and his girlfriend Gail Berke (Jacqueline Bisset) are diving off the coast of Bermuda when they discover a sunken treasure filled with a number of valuable artifacts. Local treasure hunter and lighthouse keeper Roman Treece (Robert Shaw) identifies the artifacts, which came from the wrecked WWII ship the Goliath. Local drug dealer Henri Cloche (Louis Gossett) gets wind of the find and is determined get the valuable artifacts by any means necessary. When Sanders and Berke refuse to cooperate, Cloche begins to terrorize the couple. With their personal safety in jeopardy, the couple cuts a deal with Cloche and are given three days to secure the treasure. In the ensuing drama, it is revealed that no one can be trusted. In a climatic battle scene, Sanders is forced to face off with Cloche to see who will secure the treasure once and for all.moreless
