The Deepening is about Ted (Ted Alderman), a New York City firefighter, who is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder resulting from his involvement in the rescue efforts of 9/11. Ted transfers from the New York City fire department to a small town in New York State. Once he relocates, he starts seeking psychological treatment for his recurring nightmares with Dr. Chambers (Gunnar Hansen). Most of the firefighters at his new station have shunned him, but he has one friend, Jim (Jim O'Rear), who gives him hope of a new life. As their friendship develops, more and more people end up dead. Jim is accused of killing two women and a fellow firefighter by the police. But without enough evidence to hold Jim in custody, Jim is released. Later, Ted and Jim find a bloody axe in the shed; they are convinced that Nick (Jess Zimmerman) is the killer. Can Jim and Ted solve the mystery of the killer's identity before the cops can pin the murders on them?moreless
