The Demon Within (AKA: The Sculptress) is a psychological horror film telling the story of Sarah (Katie Wright), a repressed young artist who moves from England to San Francisco to attend a prestigious art school. Unknown to her, the beautiful young girl has moved next to a charming yet murderous master of disguise named Matthew Dobie (Jeff Fahey), whose inner darkness begins to mysteriously affect Sarah's mind. As Sarah copes with severe cultural shock, rigorous school demands and the trials of her own budding sexuality, she finds herself sculpting malevolent and demonic imagery that apparently corresponds to the victims of Matthew's killing spree. Before long, Sarah comes to realize that Matthew is no mere killer, but possessed by an ancient evil capable of twisting her artwork into vessels for greater evil. As the evil spirit driving Matthew seeks to channel his malevolent nature into Sarah, she desperately seeks assistance against the supernatural threat seeking to consume her and transform her art into works of darkness.
