The Departed, directed by Martin Scorsese, is a crime drama that revolves around a Boston rookie cop, Billy Costigano (Leonardo DiCaprio) sent to infiltrate the mob to try to take down the Mafia boss, Frank Costello (Jack Nicholson). Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon) is another young cop on the force who is privy to the secret operation the cops are conducting to bust Costello, but what the cops don't know is that he is also an informer for Costello who warns the mobster of impending dangers when the police get too close. Soon it becomes clear to the elite cops on the force that a mole is on the inside. No one aside from Billy's two bosses know that they've planted him underground in the mob to gain Costello's trust to find details that will bring him down. The two rookies begin to play a tense game of cat and mouse game that may bring Billy closer to being exposed which would mean a grisly, unpleasant death for the young cop. The Departed is an exciting film that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
