Movie Summary

David Frankel
The Devil Wears Prada is the 2006 fashion comedy starring Anne Hathaway and legendary screen actress Meryl Streep. Hathaway plays young and ambitious, though naive, Andy Sachs who's journalist dreams leads her into the office of fashion legend and Runway magazine editor Miranda Priestly's. Though qualified in one sense, Andy lacks any knowledge of fashion and is quickly troubled by the cut throat world of dresses, belts, hair and shoes - especially one ruled by such a demanding nightmare as Miranda. With the help of critical art director Nigel, Andy is able to dress the role part and prove she is a force to be reckoned with. However, the change in wardrobe comes with a change in her personality. She learns the price to pay of being an active part in this world is not only great in currency. Her friendships and relationship with boyfriend Nate (Adrian Grenier) begin to suffer from her suddenly full schedule and superficial demands. When Miranda notices a change in Andy, she favors her over her first assistant Emily (Emily Blunt) and forces Andy to decide what kind of person she wants to be - one that's in or one that's out.moreless
