The Disappearance Of Garcia Lorca, also known as Death in Granada, is a 1996 drama based on the true lift story of Spanish poet and political activist Federico Garcia Lorca (Andy Garcia). Before World War 2, the Spanish Civil War resulted in the fascist regime of Franco taking power from the leftist government of the 1930s. During the early days of the conflict, Lorca mysteriously disappears. Although many suspected his assassination, the government has kept the case from being investigated. Decades later, Ricardo (Esai Morales), a journalist, decides to unravel the mystery for he has admired Lorca's legacy since a brief meeting with the poet when he was 14. His family was exiled from Spain and sent to Puerto Rico during the war. All these years later, government officials like Roberto Lozano (Edward James Olmos) remain tight-lipped about the case and Ricardo finds himself followed by Centeno (Miguel Ferrer). Director Marcos Zurinaga blends the political and the artistic history of Spain into a satisfying mystery thriller.
