The Distraction is a dark independent film that follows a happily married man named Paul (Evan Jones of 8 Mile, credited as Dean Bukowski) who seems to have everything going for him. He and his wife, Ally (Elora Hayes) have moved to a new town and Paul finds a promising new job. But things start to unravel when Paul meets Leslie, a beautiful co-worker at the new job. Suddenly, Paul's idyllic life is in disarray as he attempts to cope with the seamy details of his wife's sexual history while simultaneously becoming more enamored with Leslie (Jennifer Pruitt). Ally is dealing with her own guilt from a previous affair and encourages Paul's new friendship with Leslie. Unable to deal with the complex psychological issues in play, Paul unravels and the result is a dramatic portrayal of temptation, betrayal and revenge. The 1999 film was written and directed by Greg Tennant (Secretary, Casualties).
