The Dove is a film based on the true story of Robin Lee Graham (Joseph Bottoms) who spent five years sailing around the world by himself starting at the age of 16. The film effectively dramatizes Graham's story highlighting the dangerous situations and amazing people he encountered all over the world. Inspired by his sailor father, Lyle Graham (John McLiam), Robin wants to be the youngest person to circumnavigate the globe. The film follows Graham as he grows from a teenager to a man on the high seas. On his voyage, he meets a gregarious and attractive young woman, Patti Ratteree (Deborah Raffin). They fall in love, and Patti meets up with Robin at various points along his trip. As their love grows, they decide to marry while Robin is still working to complete his mission. Highlighted by Academy Award winner Sven Nyquist's amazing cinematography, The Dove is a captivating story of love and self-reliance.
