The Dress Code is a comedy film that revolves around a boy named Bruno Battaglia (Alex D. Linz). He attends Catholic school and lives with his mother, Angela (Stacey Halprin). His father Dino (Gary Sinise) is a police officer who left Bruno and his mother long ago. One day when Bruno is involved in a spelling bee, he decides that he wants to wear dresses. He feels that wearing a dress is an appropriate way to express himself. When Bruno begins wearing dresses to school, the children begin to ridicule him and he gets bullied. Bruno is picked to attend a spelling bee in Vatican City and when he is told that he cannot wear a dress to the spelling bee, Bruno stands up for himself and points out that the pope wears a dress. Meanwhile, Bruno's grandmother, Helen (Shirley MacLaine) tries to help repair the rocky relationship between Bruno and his father.
