The Duchess & The Dirtwater Fox is 1976 western-style romantic comedy that was produced and directed by Melvin Frank. Amanda "Duchess" Quiad (Goldie Hawn), a dance hall girl, and Charlie "Dirtwater Fox" Mallow (George Segal), a local gambler, team up for a journey to reach Salt Lake City, Utah. Duchess attempts to escape a pursuing con man and a loan shark, but they chase her and Dirtwater Fox to no end. She and Dirtwater Fox, in order to escape their pursuers, join up with a group of Mormons on their wagon trail. As the film progresses, Duchess and Dirtwater Fox discover a love that has been slowly growing between them, which helps them overcome many an obstacle along their journey, such as a thrilling encounter with deadly rapids, a conflict with some poisonous snakes, and continued pursuit by the gang of bandits, who will stop at nothing to catch the daring duo.
