The Duke Comes Back is a action sports film about a boxer that is forced to come out of retirement to help his new bride's father. Once the king of the ring, Duke Foster (Allan Lane) is hanging up his gloves; he got hitched to rich aristocratic Susan Corbin Foster (Heather Angel), and as a promise to her is calling it quits for good. The well to do girl's father Arnold Corbin (Frederick Burton) is none to pleased about his little girl settling down with such a bruiser, but when his fortunes go belly up in the stock market, The Duke gets his chance to put pops on his good side. Breaking the promise to his dear wife, Foster heads into the ring one last time, as the purse will be enough to get his father in law back on his feet again. But there's plenty of money riding on this, and as the championship fighter soon realizes, winning this bout will not be an easy task. Irving Pichel directs this sporty drama about leaving it all in the ring.moreless
