The Durango Kid is a 1940 American Western film directed by Lambert Hillyer and starring Charles Starrett, Luana Walters, and Kenneth MacDonald. The film tells the story of Mace Ballard (MacDonald), who blames a recent killing on "The Durango Kid," a mysterious frontier Robin Hood who sympathizes with the homesteaders. Ballard actually murdered the man himself for he discovered Ballard's plan to wage ware against the homesteaders. Meanwhile, Bill Lowry (Starrett) hears that Ballard has wrongly blamed the murder on Durango, and knows that Ballard is wrong for Lowry himself is the Durango Kid. Lowry then takes the situation into his own hands and drives Ballard and his men away from the homestead of Ben Winslow. Ballard then places a reward on the Durango kid's head, but Lowry is smart enough to evade the Ballard's henchmen and continue his quest to protect homesteaders.
