The Dust Factory

Movie Summary

Director:
Eric Small
Released:
2004
Rating:
PG
The Dust Factory is a 2004 dramatic family fantasy. Ryan Flynn (Ryan Kelley) used to be an average teenager, even if he was a little nerdy and shy. However, tragedy strikes when his father, Ryan Sr. (Robert Blanche), dies in a truck accident. Torn apart by losing his father, Ryan stops speaking and becomes increasingly reclusive and withdrawn. Even his mother, Angie (Kim Myers), cannot get through to her son. His only real friend is Rocky Mazzelli (Michael Angarano), a good-natured neighborhood kid. One day, through a strange accident, Ryan winds up in a seemingly supernatural world. Ryan spots his grandfather, Randolph (Armin Mueller-Stahl), who died several years ago. Now apparently alive and well, Randolph introduces his grandson to a strange and charming fantasy world he calls the "dust factory." Ryan also meets Melanie (Hayden Panettiere), a beautiful girl who instantly befriends him. In the magical world of the dust factory, it seems that Ryan might start to open up again.moreless
