The Education of Charlie Banks is a 2007 drama directed by Fred Durst. Charlie Banks (Jessie Eisenberg) is feeling pretty satisfied with his current life. The young man is attending a prestigious liberal arts school in New York. He shares a dorm room with his friend, Danny (Chris Marquette), and is hoping to get closer to a beautiful classmate and friend, Mary (Eva Amurri). Everything changes with the unexpected arrival of Mick (Jason Ritter). When they were children together in lower Manhattan, Mick, Danny and Charlie were all involved in a traumatic crime. After Mick nearly killed two of their grade school classmates, Charlie told the police, altering the course of Mick's life. Danny used to be Mick's best friend, but over the years his loyalties switched to Charlie. When the former bully shows up at their dorm room, Danny and Charlie are forced to face the demons and complications they thought they had left behind in their childhood homes.

  • perception of Ritter's sociopath

A good solid piece that starts with a bang but unfortunately fails to develop. The opening party scene is enjoyable but the rest of the film lacks dynamics. Durst and Eisenberg are positively unspectacular which benefits our perception of Ritter's sociopath but the director is guilty of boring his audience and ultimately nothing happens which leaves me feeling unfulfilled. 59/100.
