The Empire Strikes Back (Special Edition) is the definitive version of the 1980 classic science fiction blockbuster sequel to the first original chapter, directed by Irvin Kershner (Robocop 2) and written by Lawrence Kasdan (Raiders of the Lost Ark), and featuring all new special effects that complete creator George Lucas' vision as he originally saw it. After the destruction of the Death Star, the rebels set up a secret base on the Ice Planet Hoth. They are discovered by the Empire and a great ground battle ensues. After the battle, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill, Star Wars) journeys to the Dagobah system to find Master Yoda to begin his Jedi training. Meanwhile, Darth Vader (David Prowse, voiced by James Earl Jones, Coming to America, Conan the Barbarian) and the Empire pursues Han Solo (Harrison Ford, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Fugitive), Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher, Drop Dead Fred) and company across the galaxy.
