Movie Summary

Director:
Bruce Brown
Released:
1994
Rating:
PG
The Endless Summer II is a 1994 film about two friends who retrace the path of the legendary surfers from the first The Endless Summer. Directed by Bruce Brown, The Endless Summer II highlights the evolution of surfing since 1966, when the first film was released. Whereas the first film featured only longboard surfing, the sequel presents footage of shortboards, windsurfing and bodyboarding. The film follows surfers Pat O'Connell and Robert "Wingnut" Weaver as they follow in the footsteps of Mike Hynson and Robert August, traveling around the world to the best surfing spots, from the coast of France down to the shores of Australia and as far north as Alaska. Their path is reflective of the film's title which refers to the surfer's dream of continuously traveling the world, staying ahead of winter, and always surfing in comfortable, warm water. Of course, with the far reaching and exotic places they visit, Pat and Robert find themselves caught up in adventures other than just surfing, with a cameo from Steve Irwin and one of his large reptilian pets.moreless
