Sam is a philandering widow whose wife killed herself when she suspected him of having an affair. As a result of the rejection Joey attempts to kill herself with sleeping pills. The suicide attempt fails and Joey is left with a unique side effect. Joey begins to feel better about her life and wants to move on, but learns she is pregnant with Sam's baby. Her pregnancy pushes her over the edge again and she makes another suicide attempt. Joey feels someone or something, possibly paranormal, wants to harm her unborn baby and she cannot figure out how to protect her pregnancy. As her due date nears her feelings of doom increase and she must figure out how to protect her baby or live with the consequences.
