The Fabulous Journey to the Center of the Earth

Movie Summary

Director:
Juan Piquer Simon
Released:
1977
Rating:
PG
The Fabulous Journey to the Center of the Earth is Juan Piquer Sim''n's re- imagining of the classic Jules Verne tale. Watch as Professor Otto Lindenbrock (Kenneth More) makes a fantastic discovery on an ancient parchment, and then together with local soldier Axel (Pep Munn'') and niece Glauben (Ivonne Sentis), uses the information to travel to the center of the planet. In this iteration, Glauben adds the practicality and preparedness of a woman's touch to the absent-minded Lindenbrock and ill-equipped Axel. A vast subterranean expanse awaits the team, replete with glowing rocks, an archaic forest and unbelievably wondrous creatures, including dinosaurs. The modernization and cast diversity make this Code Red Studio release a worthwhile adaptation of Verne's original story. Honest acting from the cast, along with the idyllic cinematography of Andres Berenguer and special effects from Emilio Ruiz, combine to make this a treat for any fan of Jules Verne or science fiction in general.
