The Family Jewels is a 1965 Jerry Lewis extravaganza with the famous comedian playing multiple parts in this comedy about an orphaned heiress. After losing her parents, Donna Peyton (Donna Butterworth) has a 30 million dollar fortune and a difficult decision to make. She has to choose a guardian from her six paternal uncles that she has never met. Her longtime chauffeur, Willard Woodward (Jerry Lewis), escorts the little heiress through this tour of family eccentrics to help her choose the right man to look after her. With Lewis playing all the Peyton brothers, they are a diverse and wacky set of relatives, from a Captain Eddie, a fishing boat skipper, 'Bugs' Peyton, a slick con man, to Uncle Everett, the circus clown. Each uncle tries to woo the poor little rich girl with an eye towards the millions. Lewis also wrote and directed this delightful family comedy that makes great use of his bumbling comic persona with plenty of slapstick opportunities.
