The Fearmakers is a 1958 movie following Korean War veteran Alan Eaton (Dana Andrews) as he returns to state-side life. The film begins as Alan is taking a violent beating in a prison camp where he is soon to be released after a year-long incarceration. Brainwashed as a P.O.W., Alan's return is an emotional rollercoaster filled with paranoia. Prior to his time in the service Alan owned a public relations firm. His arrival home finds the firm has been sold by the majority partner, though Alan and his good name are still attached. His paranoid mind leads him on a quest to end the communist agenda he fears the new owners have infused into the P.R. firm that Alan once loved. Can Alan use his pull within the company to stop the Communists? Did his time in the war camp warp his sense of reality? This intriguing film gives us a glimpse into the post-war fears of our nation as they were unfolding. It's an obscure gem not to missed by fans of war drama and mystery alike.moreless
