The File of the Golden Goose is an action-packed crime thriller set against the backdrop of bustling downtown London. U.S. Secret Service agent Peter Novak (Yul Brynner) is sent to the United Kingdom after the death of his girlfriend to investigate a counterfeit ring known as The Golden Goose. When he arrives, he learns that his partner will be Scotland Yard's finest inspector and family man, Arthur Thompson (Edward Woodward). Although Novak is at first hesitant to work with Thompson, the two head to Liverpool and work their way into the confidence of the counterfeit gang. Peter discovers that the head of the ring resides in London, so the two detectives stage an argument which leads to Novak being sent off to the London operation. Once there, Novak gains the trust of Nick "The Owl" Harrison (Charles Gray) and is close to uncovering the name of the gang's leader. But, when he and Arthur are reunited and their loyalties are questioned, it will take everything he has to bring down The Golden Goose and escape in one piece.moreless
