The Five People You Meet in Heaven is a dramatic film directed by Lloyd Kramer based on Mitch Albom’s bestseller novel of the same name centering on Eddie (Jon Voight), a war vet and maintenance worker at the Ruby Pier amusement park, as he dies while trying to save the life of a little girl sitting under a falling ride. Typically, death is the end but Eddie finds himself in the afterlife with a guide known as the Blue Man (Jeff Daniels) who seeks to introduce Eddie to five people whom his life has significantly affected, whether it is as an indirect cause of their death, an unknown sacrifice, a deathbed moment, and even the offering of love. Based on Mitch Albom’s uncle Eddie, The Five People You Meet in Heaven is an inspirational exploration of how it is the little things, the off-chance moments, that can give life meaning. The film was nominated for a Primetime Emmy and starred Dagmara Dominczyk, Ellen Burstyn, Michael Imperioli, and Callum Keith Rennie.moreless
