The Forsaken is a 2001 horror film written and directed by J.S. Cardone. While driving across the desert on a cross-country road trip, Sean (Kerr Smith) picks up Nick (Brendan Fehr). Nick turns out to be a vampire hunter hot on the trail of a group of youthful blood-suckers who prey on unwary travelers. Nick explains that vampirism is a virus transmitted through bites. He was bitten by a vampire, but holds the infection at bay with a cocktail of medications. The only way he can save himself from eventually becoming a vampire is by killing the head vampire Kit (Johnathon Schaech). Sean is skeptical until they find Megan (Izabella Miko), a young and beautiful vampire victim left for dead on the side of the road. When Megan accidentally bites Nick, he becomes infected with the virus. Now all three have an interest in hunting down and killing Kit. However, killing a centuries old vampire is not an easy task.
