The Frankenstein Syndrome is a science fiction horror film in the style of the old monster movies, relying more on story line and character development than special effects. The screenplay is written by director Sean Tretta, based on the original novel by Mary Shelley. The movie follows researcher Elizabeth Barnes (Tiffany Shepis) as she joins a secret group of brilliant scientists who are doing well-intentioned but illegal stem-cell research. Led by Dr. Walton (Ed Lauter) and his assistant Marcus (Louis Mandylor), the group experiments with stem cells in the development of a universal healing potion, using very questionable ethics. Barnes manages to create a substance that regenerates dead tissue, with the potential to bring the dead back to life. The group cannot conduct legal human trials, so when security guard David (Scott Anthony Leet) is murdered, they use him as a test case and reanimate him. At first David is like a child and must be completely re-trained by lead researcher Victoria (Patti Tindall). Soon, however, David begins to demonstrate amazing and terrifying abilities, and the horror begins.moreless
