The Fury is a 1978 thriller about a government agent, Peter Sandza (Kirk Douglas), whose psychic son, Robin (Andrew Stevens), is kidnapped while the two are vacationing on a beach in Israel. It turns out the kidnapping was set up by Sandza's associate, Childress (John Cassavetes), for reasons that may or may not have connections with the United States intelligence community. In an effort to get his son back, Sandza enlists the help of two people (William Finley and Carrie Snodgrass) from the Paragon Institute for Psychic Research. They steer him to another psychic, Gillian (Amy Irving), a young high school student who is able to read Robin's thoughts and memories telepathically. Childress, however, knows about Gillian's powers and plans to use her for his purposes. Will Gillian be able to rescue Robin or will she be abducted by Childress as well? The Fury was directed by Brian DePalma, from a script by John Farris.
