The Giant Gila Monster is a 1959 science fiction movie directed by Ray Kellogg. As teenage lovers Pat Wheeler (Grady Vaughn) and Liz Humphries (Yolanda Salas) are sharing a romantic evening in Pat's hot rod car, a giant Gila monster lumbers out of the woods and kills them. When Pat does not return home in the morning, his wealthy father, Mr. Wheeler (Bob Thompson), thinks the couple has eloped. He suspects that Chase Winstead (Don Sullivan), the leader of Pat's hot rod gang, knows where his son has gone, and Mr. Wheeler threatens to fire Sheriff Jeff (Fred Graham) if he does not find him. Good-hearted Chase convinces knows nothing about the disappearance, so Sheriff Jeff, Chase, and Chase's gang begin to investigate. When they discover Pat's overturned car with odd scratch marks on it and hear reports of a mutated lizard in the area, they soon deduce that a giant Gila monster is responsible for Pat's death. As the Gila monster begins a violent rampage and starts destroying the small town, Chase must use all of his wits to figure out a way to stop it.moreless
