PG-13
The Glass House is a 2001 thriller directed by Daniel Sackheim. In the film, Ruby (Leelee Sobieski) and Rhett Baker (Trevor Morgan) are carefree teenagers living a fabulous life with their generous parents. Suddenly, the Baker children have their life turned upside-down when their parents are tragically killed in a car accident. Because the Baker's had no close family, their will gave custody of their children to Erin (Diane Lane) and Terrence "Terry" Glass (Stellan Skarsgard), the Baker's former neighbors. At first glance, the couple seem like the ideal legal guardians for the children. They no longer live in Ruby and Rhett's neighborhood, so the kids must leave everything they know and move to the couple's home in Malibu. Shortly after arriving, Ruby begins to suspect Erin and Terry are not the loving, generous couple they seem to be. When Ruby finds out her parents left her and her brother a huge inheritance she thinks Erin and Terry only want the money.moreless

Metacritic Score

  • 20

The New York Times Dana Stevens

The Glass House is hardly insane, just absurd, and the only damage it does is to itself.

  • 10

    Los Angeles Times Kevin Thomas

So laughably awful that it begs to have stones thrown at it; it's a wonder it got made at all.

  • 10

    Variety Robert Koehler

There's nothing in genredom quite so unhinged as the badly made psycho-thriller, and long before it's over, The Glass House collapses from wretched design and execution.
